Nanoscience Research at UC Merced
Gain hands-on experience in faculty labs
The Nanoscience Research Program at UC Merced ended in 2014 when funding for COINS came to an end.
About the summer research program
Each summer, selected UC Merced students work on nanotechnology projects in faculty labs for 10 weeks. At the start of the summer, Merced students travel to UC Berkeley to join the COINS REU program students for a 2-day session of presentations, tours, socializing and great food! Activities include a Welcome Luncheon, an overview of nanoscience and COINS research thrusts, a workshop on graduate school admission, and a group tour of the Molecular Foundry at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. At summer’s end, Merced students again join the Berkeley interns to showcase their research in an Undergraduate Student Poster Session.
